About Us

Presumably, you have arrived here after your fourth product demo in a week left you no closer to understanding which project management tool will actually help your team deliver anything on time.

Welcome to the club. The project management software market has reached that particular stage of maturity where every vendor claims to “revolutionize collaboration” while offering roughly the same Kanban board with different colour schemes. Zero Backlog exists because choosing between them should not require a project management certification of its own.

What we actually do

We are an independent review and comparison platform focused exclusively on project management software. That means task trackers, sprint planners, portfolio management suites, workflow automation engines, and the ever-expanding category of tools promising to make your team “agile” in ways that would make the authors of the original manifesto quietly weep. Our editorial coverage spans everything from lightweight boards a startup can deploy before lunch to enterprise platforms designed to coordinate thousands of contributors across time zones and reporting structures.

Why a dedicated resource matters

Generalist software review sites treat project management tools the way a rushed sprint retrospective treats root causes: acknowledged, noted, and promptly forgotten. They slot PM platforms between accounting software and CRM systems as though evaluating a dependency-tracking engine requires the same criteria as reviewing a spreadsheet plugin. It does not.

Choosing project management software demands an understanding of workflow modelling, resource allocation logic, integration ecosystems, permission architectures, and the roughly forty different definitions vendors have invented for “automation.” These are not details that survive compression into a star rating and a summary paragraph. We built Zero Backlog because the people making these purchasing decisions deserve analysis that respects the complexity of what they are trying to accomplish.

How we keep the lights on

We participate in affiliate partnerships with some of the vendors featured on this site. When you click through to a vendor and make a purchase, we may earn a commission. This is fully disclosed on our Affiliate Disclosure page, because transparency about revenue is not optional when you are asking people to trust your editorial judgment.

These partnerships do not influence our editorial content. No vendor can purchase a ranking, commission a favourable review, or preview our content before publication. Our editorial team operates independently, which is exactly as inconvenient for vendor partner programmes as it sounds.

What you will find here

We will publish comparison guides, category analyses, and product evaluations designed for people who need to make real decisions with real budgets. Each piece is aimed at the gap between what vendors promise and what project teams actually need. We are building this resource methodically, and we intend for it to become the first place team leads and project managers check before signing another annual contract.
